Coin & Token Timers - What You Need to Know
Stephen P Wales have been supplying meters to the electrical wholesale industry for over 30 years and with the cost of electricity rising and an ever increasing pressure to save energy, the demand for electrical metering has never been higher.
Our 'What you need to know' series aims to share some general metering tips, helping you talk to your customers about metering with confidence. Our second edition introduces you to Coin & Token Timers which are a great way to charge for the use of a variety of electrical devices
Popular Timer Applications
Laundry(Washing Machines / Tumble Dryers) | Showers(Electric or Mixer) |
Games Lighting(Snooker / Pool Tables) | Sports Lighting(Squash / Tennis Courts) |
Leisure(Sun Beds / Gym Equipment) | Equestrian(Horse Washes & Solariums) |
Air Conditioning | Media(TV & Games Consoles) |
Useful Timer Features
Allows the connected device to be used with an override key without inserting coins. e.g. Snooker table lights can be used during a tournament without having to enter coins.
Allows a fixed amount to be set before the connected device will operate. e.g. A landlord wants to charge £3 for 1 hours use of a washing machine, (without this feature the appliance would start after the first £1 was entered, potentially cutting power to the machine mid-cycle).
Allows a count down before the connected device operates. e.g. A tanning salon may give 2 minutes from entering coins before the sun bed switches on, allowing customers time to get changed.
Allows an audible warning to be given before the end of the allotted time period. e.g. On a shower, you can set for a buzzer to sound 1 minute before it finishes, allowing users to wash off soap or shampoo.
Allows a secondary device, to continue for a pre-determined time once the allotted time has run out. e.g. On a tennis court, secondary safety lighting could come on for 2 minutes after the main lights have switched off, allowing for a safe exit. |
