CT Metering with Surge Protection

Challenge

One of our customers needed a retrofit metering solution for every premises in a large shopping mall, allowing the owners to bill each shop for their share of consumption. In addition the contractor had to install surge protection for each premises as a safety measure.

Solution

S P Wales worked with the Surge Arrestor manufacturer to build a combined Metering and Surge Protection Kit.  Each kit was supplied with 3 split core CT's that can clip around the existing supply cables without the added disruption of having to disconnect them. The installer simply had to fit the enclosure next to the incomer of each premises, fit the CT's and wire them back to the enclosure, then take a feed from each phase and the neutral using the 1m supply cables included with the enclosures.
